That crack in Larsen C that I keep banging on about?
In the last few days it grew 17 km, and has now completely overshot areas of suture ice that previously prevented it from growing (read this post for more about why suture ice is important, and this paper if you’re really keen).
It looks likely that one of the largest icebergs in recorded history will calve almost any day now.
My bet’s on June.
